Friday After Work POTA

This will not be a long activation report as it was at my home park K-7889 and I didn’t take a single photo. The weather was considerably warmer than the same activation a week earlier, making the outing much more pleasant.

This evening’s activation netted 14 QSOs on two bands. I logged 11 contacts on 20 meters an three on 30 meters.

Activation from K-7889 April 22 2023 (UTC)

The activation wasn’t all smooth sailing. At one point when several stations were responding to my CQ call a gust of wind came up and knocked the antenna over. Obviously, dealing with that was the number one priority and by the time I got back to the radio the callers had given up. Although, I’m pretty sure I got one of them back later down the log.

This activation was my first one to try 30 meters. Only three contacts there but the antenna tuned up easily and there wasn’t much background noise at this location.

Fun fact, N7WPO in Port Angeles, Washington was my first QSO on 20M and also my last QSO on 30M. Thanks OM for “bookending” the activation.
