The QRP Labs QCX-Mini, I’m afraid to say, has taken a back seat in my POTA lineup since the FT-818 and MTR-4B arrived in the shack. However, today was the day to get this great little radio into the field so she could stretch her legs.

I spotted and started calling…and calling…and calling. At this rate it was going to be the late shift before the activation was finished, if I got it done at all.

I took a break to chase VA4ADM at Parc Joseph Royal Recreation Park (VE-2475) in Winnipeg, MB. Then got back to pounding out CQ POTA on 14.059 MHz.

There must have been funny business going on with the ionosphere today as I would hear nothing for minutes at a time, then out of the blue I get strong calls from the midwest, eastern seaboard, or south. A more typical 20M activation brings lots of southwest, inter mountain, and PNW QSOs, but not so today.

This activation wrapped with the 10th call coming from N6DVS, a local and prolific activator who has put his callsign on most of the POTA units around the SF Bay Area. Nice to finally get you in the log Victor!
